New England Users of VM (NEUVM) is a local user support group with a long history of fostering communications, information sharing and fellowship among users of the IBM VM mainframe operating system. Initially established in 1979, NEUVM had become inactive in recent years as VM mainframe usage in the New England area receded.
The mainframe port of the Linux operating system in 2000 has caused a resurgence in VM usage. Long-time VM shops are finding new uses for their dependable VM work-horses, and first time VM shops are popping up everywhere! There can be no question but that VM is here to stay! As VM and Linux/390 usage increases in New England, the need for NEUVM increases.
